Davis Islands was laid out in the 1920s and the housing stock shows it — barrel tile, arched entries, stucco parapets, and rooflines that were never designed with clip channels in mind. The lighting has to follow the architecture rather than fight it, or the whole thing looks like it was stapled on.

Culbreath Isles and Sunset Park run larger lots with deep-water canals behind them. Beach Park and Parkland Estates bring brick streets and mature landscaping. Hyde Park mixes Craftsman bungalows with newer builds on the same block, sometimes next door to each other.

Bayshore Beautiful and Palma Ceia are defined by the oaks. Big canopy trees that have been there longer than the houses.

What works here

Working with the house instead of over it.

On a Mediterranean revival, the parapet line and the arched openings are the design. Lighting them cleanly means following curves that a straight run of clips will not hold. That is slower work and it is the difference between a house that looks lit and a house that looks decorated.

Mature oaks need canopy lighting rather than trunk wrapping in most cases — a wrapped oak trunk reads as a hardware-store job on a street like Bayshore. Uplighting the canopy and letting the structure of the tree show is usually the better call.

Harbour Island and the newer downtown-adjacent builds run modern geometry and flat rooflines, which take long clean runs and very little ornament. Holiday lighting Tampa is not one style, and quoting it as one style is how people end up disappointed.
