On the mainland bay side, Del Oro Groves and Bayside Shores run quieter residential streets along the water.
Island Estates is a built canal community reached by a single causeway — tight streets, water on both sides of most blocks, and a mix of mid-century waterfront homes and newer rebuilds on the same lots.
Sand Key runs south from the beach in a strip of condominium towers and waterfront homes, with Gulf on one side and the Intracoastal on the other. Clearwater Beach proper carries heavy visitor traffic through December, which affects both access and what the lighting is doing.
Harbor Oaks on the mainland is a different century. Bluff-top lots above the water, old oaks, Mediterranean and Colonial Revival homes, and one of the oldest platted neighborhoods in the county.
